Inspired by the poet Jon Cooper Clarke
I'm leaving home,
and I need a loan,
cos I need a room,
and I need it soon.
But you gotta pay
for a place to stay,
I might have to go for
my cousin's sofa
But that feels wrong,
so it won't last long.
And as the years pass,
I save some cash.
I find a place
to call my own space.
I make it mine,
and I'm feeling fine.
Then I meet a girl,
and she changes my world.
And I find I'd prefer,
to hang out with her.
So we're getting married,
But I'm feeling harried.
Because she says maybe,
she wants a baby!
So we're looking around
the nice parts of town.
This place meets our needs,
so I signed the deeds.
Now we've paid off the loan.
And our house is our own.
After all of the hassle,
my home is my castle.
